![]() ![]() "I sort of just adapted all of it to work with the concept of the video and match the dancers. Everything from the Jeremy Scott pieces to, there's a designer called Boudicca Couture, which is the white piece she's dancing in, and these were some of my favorite designers and pieces that I had been looking at," she says. "I knew right away what pieces were exciting to me. I really need that corset.' And years later, that corset was showcased at the Louvre in Paris because she wore it." "I remember the Dolce & Gabbana corset at the end, they were like, 'No, we're not sure.' And I was like, 'Oh, come on. It was funny because after that video, the whole world knew," says Akerlund. So I had to convince designers to lend me clothes. "When I did prep that video no one really knew who she was. Akerlund faced the added challenge of securing Lady Gaga-worthy costumes and outfits by designers who had barely heard of her. She had released a few singles prior, including "Just Dance" and "Poker Face," but had yet to establish herself as a superstar who was here for the long haul. The video was a huge feat for Gaga at the time, who was then a relatively unknown singer to the world. ![]() "I think the time that it actually came out, that time in music and what artists were doing, and just her as an artist, it made a huge impact." "I actually had to rewatch the 'Paparazzi' video because it's been so many years," says Akerlund with a laugh. "Paparazzi" marked Akerlund's first time back at work since she gave birth to twins, and as she recalls, her "creativity was exploding by the time we were doing that video." Akerlund was behind the video's designer-heavy costumes. Or that her elaborate, theatrical music videos were once out of the ordinary, but such was the case for the seven-minute long video for "Paparazzi" in June 2009, starring a then-unknown Alexander Skarsgård. With that, it's almost difficult to comprehend that there was a time when designers were hesitant to dress Lady Gaga. It goes without saying what she's accomplished since the release of her first album in the summer of 2008, but it's worth noting anyway: She's won Grammys, a Golden Globe, has been nominated for an Oscar, pulled off dramatic fashion feats at the Met Gala and beyond, on top of becoming one of - if not the - biggest pop star of a generation. She's even gone back to one of her original stylists, Nicola Formichetti, for the new album, who back in the late aughts was part of her Haus of Gaga creative team and the man behind her infamous meat dress at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards. Lady Gaga's Chromatica era is a nod back to her early days as the scrappy, avant-garde burgeoning pop star. ![]() ![]() Goldilocks and the Three Bear Shifters Sable Sylvan This book was given to me in exchange for an honest review. Sylvan has delivered on a new brand of fairy tale for the very adult reader. But in the end I’d say it’s a much happier ever after than the traditional Goldilocks and the three bears had. Things may get a tad wet and muddy and a few tussles may ensue. Get ready for the traditional three beds in a very untraditional setting. It’s only when the three come together that Goldilocks will finally feel that true sense of belonging. This calls for three bears to come to grips with reality and realize that just maybe Goldilocks is the mate for all of them. But no amount of hot steamy love making is going to be the deciding factor. ![]() While every indication says Goldilocks is each of their mates… the question is… are they her mates? Things get steamy as they each do their best to win her over and away from each other. Each of them separately and Goldilocks is right back where she started with three jealous, competitive brutes. Now she’s back for her five year high school reunion and the three bears are out to prove she’s their fated mate. That’s when their cozy friendship bit them all in the butt and sent the love of their lives running. They each new she was the girl for them so when they each got their mate marks in their last year of school they each set out to claim her. They were all the best of buds in high school. Brian, Glen and Cliff have been in love with Goldilocks from an early age. While definitely not a case of Momma Bear, Poppa Bear and Baby Bear there are definitely three bears with three very different dispositions, that is except for the fact that they all love one curly headed Goldilocks. ![]() For example, a study that looked at the ability of influenza viruses to infect a cell culture after varying amounts of time on a banknote showed survival times from 48 hours to 17 days, depending on how they were deposited on the banknote. Although many viruses are soon destroyed once in contact with air, water, or other non-physiological conditions, certain types are capable of persisting outside of a living cell for varying amounts of time. For example, Clostridium tetani survives in the soil and in the presence of oxygen as a resistant endospore. Pathogens may have mechanisms of dormancy or resilience that allow them to survive (but typically not to reproduce) for varying periods of time in nonliving environments. These environments may also become contaminated with pathogens in human feces, pathogens shed by intermediate hosts, or pathogens contained in the remains of intermediate hosts. These may naturally harbor the organism because it may grow in that environment. Nonliving reservoirs can include soil and water in the environment. Reservoirs can be living organisms or nonliving sites. Reservoirs and Carriersįor pathogens to persist over long periods of time they require reservoir s where they normally reside. This section will explore where pathogens survive-both inside and outside hosts-and some of the many ways they move from one host to another. Hosts have evolved defenses against pathogens, but because their rates of evolution are typically slower than their pathogens (because their generation times are longer), hosts are usually at an evolutionary disadvantage. Pathogens often have elaborate adaptations to exploit host biology, behavior, and ecology to live in and move between hosts. But having infected one host, all pathogens must also have a mechanism of transfer from one host to another or they will die when their host dies. Many pathogens require a living host to survive, while others may be able to persist in a dormant state outside of a living host.
